GREAT LAKES VOTING
Branden W. and Lisa K.
Akron, OH
Branden and Lisa are dedicated parents of three children, doing everything they can to provide for their family. Branden works both a full-time job and a part-time job to make ends meet, while Lisa, despite her serious health issues, does her best to contribute as much as she can. Her health challenges prevent her from working full-time, which adds to the financial strain on the family.
Despite these obstacles, Branden and Lisa remain hardworking and committed to their family, always putting their children first. They truly deserve a break, and some support would make a world of difference for them. A new roof would provide them with much-needed relief and stability, allowing them to focus on their family and Lisa’s health. This would be a well-deserved blessing for a family that has worked so hard and faced so many challenges.

My grandparents' home, a beautiful old Victorian from the mid-1800s, has been in disrepair for years due to several financial setbacks. The roof, damaged by storms and fallen trees, leaks significantly, leading to water damage throughout the house. Every time it rains, they have to place buckets around to catch the water, and the moisture has created pockets of damage that are worsening over time. The situation has been made even more heartbreaking by the recent passing of my grandfather, Edward Lee Meacham, in April. He was the one with the skills to repair the roof, but his unexpected death has left my grandmother widowed after over 50 years of marriage.
This tragedy has deeply affected our family, and the funds that might have gone toward repairing the roof were instead used for funeral arrangements. My grandmother, now 72, runs a daycare called "Grandmother's House We Go" from this home, a multigenerational treasure for our family. Being awarded a new roof would mean the world to her, allowing her to preserve this cherished home and continue caring for the children she loves.
Leslie M.
Akron, OH
Leslie McCrea of Akron, Ohio, is a retired librarian who dedicated over 30 years of her life to fostering a love of reading in both children and adults. Known for her kind and generous heart, Leslie has always been there to help her family, friends, and community whenever they needed support. Her passion for service has extended beyond the library, as she has also been deeply involved in cat rescue efforts over the years.
However, life’s unexpected challenges, including health issues, plumbing problems, and car troubles, have left Leslie without the resources to replace her old, leaky roof. The harsh Ohio summers and snowy winters have taken a toll on her roof, and it is now in desperate need of replacement. Leslie's sisters, who live far away, are deeply concerned about her well-being and hope that she can receive the help she needs to repair her roof.
Leslie’s lifelong dedication to helping others, both as a beloved librarian and as a compassionate animal rescuer, makes her truly deserving of this support. A new roof would not only provide her with much-needed relief from worry and financial strain but also allow her to continue living comfortably in the home she has worked so hard to maintain.

I am nominating Mr. Novick for a new roof because he and his wife are wonderful people who have found themselves in a difficult situation. Their home has suffered obvious wind damage, but unfortunately, their insurance company refuses to cover the cost of a new roof, even though they approved new siding for the entire house due to the same wind damage. This has left Mr. Novick and his wife in a tough spot, as they are currently unable to afford the necessary repairs due to the financial strain of their daughter's recent wedding. They truly deserve this opportunity to receive a new roof, which would provide much-needed relief during this challenging time.

This homeowner is facing significant challenges due to a leaking roof. With low income and no insurance coverage for the extensive hail damage in his area, he is struggling to address the issues. The roof's old shingles have led to leaks that are causing water to seep from the attic through to the bathroom closet, creating a worsening situation that could lead to further damage.
A new roof is urgently needed to prevent additional damage and provide a safe, secure living environment. Given the homeowner's limited financial resources, assistance with replacing the roof would be a tremendous relief, ensuring the home remains habitable and free from further water damage.
